What is it?
This tool rotates an image in 90-degree steps and/or flips it horizontally or vertically, with a live preview, entirely in your browser.
Formula Explanation
Each click on Rotate turns the image another 90 degrees clockwise (cumulative, so two clicks give 180°). Flip Horizontal mirrors the image left-to-right, and Flip Vertical mirrors it top-to-bottom; both combine with rotation. For a 90° or 270° rotation, the canvas width and height are swapped to match the new orientation.
Example Calculation
A photo taken sideways can be fixed with one click of Rotate 90° CW (or three clicks to go the other way); a selfie that looks mirrored can be corrected with Flip Horizontal.
How to Use
- Click the upload area or drag and drop an image onto it.
- Click Rotate 90° CW repeatedly to reach the orientation you want.
- Click Flip Horizontal and/or Flip Vertical to mirror the image if needed.
- Watch the live preview update instantly, then click Download to save the result.
Benefits
- Fixes sideways or upside-down photos without installing any software.
- Processes everything locally in your browser — images are never uploaded anywhere.
- Shows a live preview so you can see exactly how the result will look before downloading.
Use Cases
- Fixing a photo that was taken with the phone held sideways.
- Mirroring a selfie or scanned image that came out flipped.
- Rotating a scanned document photo to reading orientation before sharing it.
What Your Result Means
The downloaded image reflects exactly what's shown in the preview — same content, same resolution, just rotated and/or flipped. No pixels are added or removed.
Tips
- Click Rotate 90° CW up to three times to reach any of the four cardinal orientations.
- Use Reset to quickly clear all rotation and flip changes and start over.
- Rotation and flip combine — order doesn't matter, the live preview always shows the current combined result.
Common Mistakes
- Expecting a single click to jump straight to 180° — each click only adds 90°.
- Confusing Flip Horizontal (mirrors left-right) with a 180° rotation (turns upside down) — they produce different results.
- Forgetting to check the live preview before downloading.
FAQs
Are my images uploaded to a server?
No, all processing happens locally in your browser using the Canvas API — your images never leave your device.
Does rotating or flipping reduce image quality?
No, rotation and flipping just rearrange pixels — there's no compression loss beyond the output format's own encoding when you download.
Can I rotate by a custom angle, like 15 degrees?
Not in this version — only 90-degree steps (90°, 180°, 270°) are supported.
What image formats are supported?
Any image format your browser can display, including JPG, PNG, and WebP — the downloaded file keeps the same format as the original.
Images are read and transformed locally in your browser and are never uploaded to a server.
