Formula Explanation
Each column represents a place value (1, 10, 100, 1,000, or 10,000). The number of active beads in a column is that column's digit, and the total value is the sum of each digit multiplied by its place value.
Example Calculation
Activating 4 beads in the Thousands column and 2 beads in the Ones column represents 4 × 1,000 + 2 × 1 = 4,002, shown live at the top of the abacus.
How to Use
- Click a bead in any column to set that column's digit — click the 3rd bead to set it to 3, for example.
- Click the topmost active bead again to reduce the digit by one.
- Or type a number and click Show to instantly arrange all the beads for you.
- Click Reset to clear every column back to zero.
